More stitches (US terminology)

Flat Single Crochet (fSc) Stitch

  • Make a Foundation Chain (any number + 2 beginning chains).
  • ROW 1: Starting from 2nd ch from hook, regular Sc to end of row. Ch1 and turn.
  • ROW 2: Starting from 2nd stitch (st) from hook, fSc to end of row.
  • fSc: Insert hook in in the upside-down "v" right under the horizontal loop of the st, yarn over (y/o) & pull up a loop, y/o and pull through loop on hook.
  • Repeat to end of row.
  • Ch 1 (doesn't count as 1st fSc), turn work.
  • Starting from 1st stitch, fSc to end of row.
  • Ch1 & turn
  • Repeat ROW 2 for as many rows as required.

Moss Stitch (Ms) or Linen Stitch

  • Also known as Granite Stitch or Woven Stitch.
  • Make a Foundation Chain (even number of chains).
  • ROW 1: Starting from 4th ch from hook, *Sc, Ch 1, skip a stitch*, repeat * to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • ROW 2: Skip 1st stitch, *Sc in next CHAIN SPACE (ChSp), Ch 1, skip a stitch*, repeat * to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • Repeat ROW 2 for as many rows as required. 

Front Post Double Crochet (FpDc) Stitch

  • Make a Foundation Chain.
  • ROW 1: Starting from 4th ch from hook, Dc to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • ROW 2: Turning chain counts as 1st FpDc. Starting from the 2nd Dc post from the previous row, make a FpDc. Continue to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • FpDc: Dc that is made around the previous row's Dc post, keeping the post in the FRONT.
  • Repeat ROW 2 for as many rows as required.

Back Post Double Crochet (BpDc) Stitch

  • Make a Foundation Chain.
  • ROW 1: Starting from 4th ch from hook, Dc to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • ROW 2: Turning chain counts as 1st BpDc. Starting from the 2nd Dc post from the previous row, make a BpDc. Continue to end of row. Ch 2, turn.
  • BpDc: Dc that is made around the previous row's Dc post, keeping the post in the BACK.
  • Repeat ROW 2 for as many rows as required.

Alpine Stitch (As)

  • Make a Foundation Chain (ODD number of chains).
  • ROW 1: Starting from 2nd ch from hook, Sc to end of row. Ch 3, turn.
  • ROW 2: Starting from 2nd st, Dc to end of row. (Turning ch counts as 1st Dc). Ch 1, turn.
  • ROW 3: Starting from 1st st, Sc to end of row. (Turning ch doesn't count as 1st Sc). Ch , turn.
  • ROW 4: Starting from 2nd post from 2 rows down, *Front Post Double Crochet (FpDc), skip a st, regular Dc in next st*, repeat * to end of row. Regular Dc in last st. Ch 1, turn.
  • ROW 5: Starting from 1st st, Sc to end of row. (Turning ch doesn't count as 1st Sc). Ch 2, turn.
  • ROW 6: Starting from 2nd st, regular Dc, FpDc around 3rd post from 2 rows back, *skip a post, FpDc, skip a st, regular Dc*, repeat * to end of row. Regular Dc in last st. 
  • Repeat ROWS 3-6 for the desired number of rows. 

Suzette Stitch (SzSt)

  • Make a Foundation Chain (EVEN number of chains).
  • ROW 1: Starting from 2nd ch from hook, SzSt until you have 2 ch(s) left. Skip a ch, sc in last ch. Ch 1, turn.
  • SzSt: *Sc + Dc in same ch/st, skip a ch/st*, repeat * until end of row.
  • ROW 2: Starting from 1st st, SzSt until you have 2 st(s) left. Skip a st, Sc in last st. Ch 1, turn.
  • Repeat ROW 2 for the desired number of rows..
